Lahore Qalandars at the Global Super League 2026: squad, fixtures, and how to watch
By Duane Martin · Cricket Daily
Lahore Qalandars are heading to Guyana for the Global Super League 2026 with a bold and unfamiliar look. Gone is long-time captain Shaheen Shah Afridi, left out of the squad entirely, and in his place New Zealand all-rounder Michael Bracewell leads a young, development-focused side.
Former Australia fast bowler Shaun Tait comes in as head coach for the campaign, and the Qalandars open the entire tournament on July 23. For Pakistani fans, this is a chance to watch the franchise's next generation tested against champion sides from around the world, live on A Sports HD.
Here is the full squad, the fixtures, and how to follow it.
Two quick questions before the tournament
When do Lahore Qalandars play at GSL 2026?
The Qalandars play four group games, all at Providence Stadium in Guyana. They open the whole tournament against Perth Scorchers XI on July 23, then face Desert Vipers on July 24, hosts Guyana Amazon Warriors on July 26, and San Francisco Unicorns on July 29. The top team after the round-robin goes straight to the August 1 final, with second and third meeting in a Qualifier on July 31.
Who captains the squad, and where is Shaheen Afridi?
Michael Bracewell captains the side. Shaheen Shah Afridi, who led Lahore to three Pakistan Super League titles, has been removed as captain and is not part of the 14-man GSL squad. Former Australia quick Shaun Tait is the head coach for the tournament.
A new-look, youth-first squad
The headline is the change at the top. Shaheen Shah Afridi, one of the most successful captains in PSL history with three titles, was left out of the GSL group as the franchise opted for a fresh direction. In his place, the Qalandars handed the armband to Michael Bracewell, whose international experience and all-round game are meant to steady a squad built around emerging Pakistani talent.
The coaching setup changed too, with former Australia speedster Shaun Tait appointed head coach for the campaign. The franchise, led by owner and CEO Atif Rana and team director Sameen Rana, framed the whole exercise as a chance to give young players exposure against elite opposition, while continuing their well-known focus on developing fast bowlers.
Four overseas players anchor the group: captain Bracewell (New Zealand), all-rounder Delano Potgieter (South Africa), wicketkeeper-batter Shayan Jahangir (USA) and Bangladesh opener Parvez Hossain Emon, who returns to Lahore after previously featuring for them in the PSL and secured a no-objection certificate from the Bangladesh board. Around them sit familiar names like Test opener Abdullah Shafique and leg-spinner Usama Mir, alongside a crop of young Pakistanis.
Lahore Qalandar's full squad: GSL 2026
Overseas players are marked with an asterisk. The 14-man squad:
- Michael Bracewell (captain) *
- Mehran Mumtaz
- Abdullah Shafique
- Mohammad Naeem
- Shamyl Hussain
- Shahab Khan
- Farhan Yousaf
- Ali Shabbir
- Usama Mir
- Mohammad Imran
- Delano Potgieter *
- Parvez Emon *
- Shayan Jahangir *
- Muhammad Basit
The experience runs through Bracewell, Shafique, Usama Mir and the overseas trio, while the likes of Mehran Mumtaz, Shahab Khan, Farhan Yousaf and Ali Shabbir get a valuable run on the global stage.
